To be honest, no client has ever asked me if I have a VA certificate. Firstly, I’m not sure if many clients are actually aware that VA certificates exist and secondly, if you put yourself in the shoes of a client, wouldn’t you be more interested in the individual VA’s skills, experience, work ethic and personality, rather than whether they have a framed piece of paper on their wall?
Really, the answer to this question depends on what you want to achieve from getting a certificate. Don’t get one purely because you think clients will want to see one. Also, don’t get one because you think you need one to become a Virtual Assistant. However, if you think that getting certified will boost your self confidence and give you some psychological backing, which will enable you to get more clients, then by all means.
I do believe that they have value, in that you do learn valuable skills and get more self confidence, but at the end of the day you don’t need one to become a Virtual Assistant.
